What the Heck Is Nutrient Management?
And Why Should I Care?
Thursday, October 3, 2024
7:00 pm
Virtual Lecture
with Anita Tuttle
Retired Urban Nutrient
Management Coordinator
The health of the Chesapeake Bay and Virginia’s waters is a responsibility all of us share. Nutrient management is one strategy for keeping our waterways clean. While government programs largely target the agricultural sector, there is also a role for every landowner, whether urban or rural, to contribute to the effort. This talk will define nutrient management and present simple steps each of us can take to reduce water pollution with thoughtful land management.
Anita Tuttle has been a gardener for over 50 years. She loves to play in the dirt! On August 1, 2024, she retired from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation where she served as the Urban Nutrient Management Coordinator. She has previously worked in garden center management, public gardens maintenance, as a State Park Ranger, and as a DEQ permit writer/inspector, to name a few roles. She also served as an Adjunct instructor in horticulture with Germanna Community College from 2002 through 2012.
