Growing a Better Garden

Thursday, April 4, 2024
7:00 pm
Virtual Lecture

with Jennifer Lumley
Virginia Master Naturalist

“Growing a Better Garden” looks at some of the less frequently considered influences on a plant’s ability to thrive and shares apps and online resources that can help gardeners match plants to sites that will support them.

Jennifer Lumley is a Virginia Master Naturalist with a particular interest in native plants and the ecosystems that support them. She has been volunteering for the last seven years as an Audubon at Home ambassador with the Wildlife Sanctuary Program that is administered locally by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy.

Jennifer spent her career in education and program development and management, first for Loudoun County Public Schools, then for Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute in General Fine Arts, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from American University. Jennifer’s love for Loudoun County is based on the beauty of its landscapes, which she moved here to paint. Her work as a Virginia Master Naturalist is aimed at helping to preserve that beauty.
